What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic chip, you install your mobile plan by scanning a QR code — and you can keep your regular SIM in place at the same time.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most phones released since 2018 do, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and Google Pixel 3 and newer. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked. You can check in seconds with the compatibility steps in our setup guides.
When should I install my eSIM?
Install it over Wi-Fi before you travel — at home or at the airport. Your data allowance only starts when the eSIM connects to a Turkish network, so installing early costs you nothing.
Will I keep my WhatsApp and phone number?
Yes. WhatsApp stays linked to your existing number even while the eSIM provides data. Keep your home SIM active for calls and SMS, and let the eSIM carry your internet.
How fast is the data?
Turkey eSIM uses Türkiye's leading mobile networks with 4G/LTE nationwide and 5G in supported areas — fast enough for video calls, streaming, and navigation.
Do I need to remove my physical SIM?
No. The eSIM works alongside your physical SIM. Just make sure mobile data is set to use the eSIM so you avoid roaming charges on your home SIM.
What happens if I run out of data?
Top up in the app in seconds — no new QR code needed. Your connection continues on the same eSIM.
Can I use my phone as a hotspot?
Yes, tethering is supported. Share your Türkiye data with your laptop, tablet, or travel companions.
Do I need internet to install the eSIM?
Yes — installation requires a Wi-Fi or mobile connection, which is why we recommend installing before you fly. After installation, no internet is needed for the eSIM to activate on arrival.
Can I make regular calls and send SMS?
Turkey eSIM plans are data-only. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or any internet-based app for calls and messages — or keep your home SIM active for traditional calls.
How long is a plan valid?
Each plan shows its validity period clearly before purchase — from short trips to a full month. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects in Türkiye.
Does it work outside Türkiye?
Turkey eSIM plans are designed for use within Türkiye. Check the plan list for current options and coverage details for your route.
Is payment secure? Can I get a refund?
On the website, payments are processed by Stripe on its own hosted page — we never see or store your card number. In the app, they still go through the App Store or Google Play. If an eSIM cannot be installed or activated on a compatible device, contact in-app support and we'll make it right.
Is an eSIM better than buying a SIM card at the airport?
For most travelers, yes: no queue at the arrivals hall, no paperwork, often a better price, and you're online the moment you land instead of an hour later. Your home SIM also stays in your phone.
