How to Install an eSIM on OnePlus (Turkey eSIM Guide)
Set up your Turkey eSIM on a OnePlus phone: OxygenOS SIM & Network path, direct in-app install with no QR code, and data roaming for your Türkiye trip.

Three things to know before you start
It connects only at your destination
Install at home, but expect “No Service” or “Activating…” until you land — that is normal. The plan wakes up when the line first finds a network at your destination.
Your QR code works exactly once
Seeing “invalid QR” after a scan almost always means the eSIM is already on your phone. Don’t rescan — open your SIM list and just switch the line on.
No internet after landing? Check Data Roaming
Turn the travel line on, set it as your mobile data line, and switch Data Roaming ON for it. This one toggle causes most “it doesn’t work” messages.

Download the Turkey eSIM app before you travel
Install the Turkey eSIM app and buy your data plan while you're still on home Wi-Fi. Your eSIM profile is ready in the app the moment checkout finishes — no QR code and no confirmation email to dig up later.

Connect to Wi-Fi
Do the install at home, before you fly. Downloading the eSIM profile needs an internet connection, and getting it done early means you land in Türkiye already connected instead of hunting for airport Wi-Fi.

Open Settings and go to Wi-Fi & Network
On your OnePlus phone, open Settings and tap Wi-Fi & Network.

Open SIM & Network
Tap SIM & Network. This screen lists your physical SIM and any eSIM already installed. On some OxygenOS versions the entry reads SIM Management instead.

Tap Add eSIM and install straight from the app
Tap Add eSIM. OxygenOS offers to scan a QR code, but skip it — open the Turkey eSIM app instead, go to My eSIMs, tap your plan and tap Install. The profile downloads with no camera and no printed code involved.

Confirm and let the eSIM download
OxygenOS shows the plan it found — confirm, then give it a minute to download and register. Label the line something recognizable like Türkiye in SIM & Network, and leave it switched off until your trip.

On arrival, turn on the eSIM and set it for mobile data
When you land in Türkiye, go back to Settings, Wi-Fi & Network, SIM & Network, switch the Turkey eSIM on, and set Mobile Data to the eSIM line. Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts if you want to stay reachable on your own number.

Turn on data roaming for the eSIM
In SIM & Network, open the Turkey eSIM line and enable Data Roaming for it. This adds no cost — your plan is prepaid at local rates, and the toggle affects nothing but the travel eSIM.

Troubleshooting
There's no Add eSIM option under SIM & Network.
Either your OnePlus model doesn't support eSIM, or your specific regional variant shipped without the eSIM hardware even though the same model name does support it elsewhere. Check Settings, About Device, or dial *#06#: if an EID is listed, your phone supports eSIM; if not, it doesn't, and no software update will add it.
Do I have to scan a QR code at all?
No. In the Turkey eSIM app, open My eSIMs, tap your plan and tap Install — the profile installs on the same phone with no camera involved. OxygenOS still offers a QR scan option in the Add eSIM menu, but it's not the route this app needs.
The eSIM downloaded, but I get an error mid-setup.
This usually means the connection dropped during the download or your phone is carrier-locked. Confirm you're on stable Wi-Fi and the phone is unlocked, restart it, and try installing again — your eSIM profile stays valid until it's successfully installed once.
I'm in Türkiye but mobile data isn't working.
Open SIM & Network and check that the eSIM is switched on and selected as the Mobile Data SIM, then confirm Data Roaming is enabled for it. If it still won't connect, toggle Airplane mode on and off, or restart the phone to force it to register on a Turkish network.
Will enabling data roaming cost me extra?
No — for the Turkey eSIM line, roaming must be on for it to connect at all, and your prepaid plan is billed at local rates with no roaming fees. Just keep data roaming off for your home SIM so your regular carrier can't bill you.
My OnePlus was bought on a carrier installment plan — will that block the eSIM?
It can. A phone still tied to a carrier through an installment or subsidy plan is often locked even if nothing on the box says so, and a locked phone will refuse a second, third-party eSIM regardless of whether the hardware supports it. Check the unlock status in Settings, About Device before you travel, and ask your carrier for an unlock if needed — it's free once the device is paid off in most markets.
