How to Install an eSIM on Any Android Phone (Turkey eSIM Guide)
Install your Turkey eSIM on any Android phone — Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola, Honor and more. Find the eSIM menu, scan the QR code, and get online in Türkiye.

Three things to know before you start
It connects only at your destination
Install at home, but expect “No Service” or “Activating…” until you land — that is normal. The plan wakes up when the line first finds a network at your destination.
Your QR code works exactly once
Seeing “invalid QR” after a scan almost always means the eSIM is already on your phone. Don’t rescan — open your SIM list and just switch the line on.
No internet after landing? Check Data Roaming
Turn the travel line on, set it as your mobile data line, and switch Data Roaming ON for it. This one toggle causes most “it doesn’t work” messages.
Installation steps
- 1
Check that your phone supports eSIM
Dial *#06# on the keypad. If an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, your phone has eSIM hardware. No EID usually means no eSIM support, so check before buying a plan.
- 2
Buy your plan in the Turkey eSIM app
Open the Turkey eSIM app, choose a data plan for your trip, and complete the purchase. Your QR code and manual activation details appear in the app right after checkout.
- 3
Connect to Wi-Fi
Install the eSIM over stable Wi-Fi before you travel. The download requires internet, and doing it at home means you arrive in Türkiye with data ready to switch on.
- 4
Find the eSIM menu in Settings
Settings Search eSIM
Open Settings and use the search bar at the top — type eSIM or SIM. The exact path varies by manufacturer: it's often under SIM cards & mobile networks (Xiaomi), SIM card & mobile data (Oppo), Network & internet then SIMs (Motorola and stock Android), or Mobile network (Honor, Huawei-based models).
- 5
Choose Add eSIM or Download SIM
Settings Network SIM
Look for an option named Add eSIM, Download a SIM, or Add mobile plan and tap it. The wording differs between brands, but they all launch the same eSIM download flow.
- 6
Scan the QR code or enter the code manually
Show the QR code from the Turkey eSIM app on another screen or a printout and scan it. If your phone offers manual entry instead, paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code exactly as they appear in the app.
- 7
Download the profile and name it
Confirm the download and wait for the eSIM to install — this can take a minute. Rename the new line to something clear like Türkiye, and keep it disabled until your trip starts.
- 8
On arrival, set the eSIM as your data SIM and enable roaming
SIM settings Data roaming
When you land in Türkiye, enable the eSIM in your SIM settings, set it as the SIM for mobile data, and turn on data roaming for that line only. The roaming toggle is required for the eSIM to connect, but there are no roaming fees — your plan is prepaid at local rates.
Whatever Android phone you carry — Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola, Honor, Nothing or another brand — if it supports eSIM, you can be online in Türkiye without touching a physical SIM card. You buy a prepaid data plan in the Turkey eSIM app, download the eSIM over Wi-Fi at home, and your phone connects to a local Turkish network the moment you switch the line on after landing, at local rates and with no roaming bills.
Android manufacturers each name their menus a little differently, which is the only tricky part. This guide shows you how to confirm your phone supports eSIM, where to find the eSIM menu on the most common brands, and how to install and activate your plan — including the data roaming toggle you enable on arrival.
Before you start
Give yourself five to ten minutes, since finding the right menu can take a moment on some phones. The one rule that applies everywhere: install over Wi-Fi before you travel. Your plan’s validity only starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in Türkiye, so an early install costs nothing and spares you the airport setup scramble.
Before you start
- An Android phone with eSIM support (dial *#06# — an EID number means eSIM is supported)
- Carrier-unlocked phone
- Stable Wi-Fi connection
- Turkey eSIM app installed with a purchased plan
Troubleshooting
I can't find any eSIM option in my settings.
First dial *#06# — if no EID number is shown, your phone doesn't support eSIM and no menu will exist. If an EID is listed but you still can't find the option, use the search bar in Settings for eSIM, SIM manager, or mobile plan, and make sure your phone's software is up to date, since some brands add the menu in later updates.
My phone has an EID but the eSIM won't install.
Some models have eSIM hardware that is disabled on certain carrier or regional variants, and carrier-locked phones refuse third-party profiles. Confirm your phone is unlocked, try over a different Wi-Fi network, and restart before retrying — the QR code stays valid until the profile installs successfully.
The QR code won't scan.
Increase the brightness on the screen displaying the code and hold your phone 20–30 cm away. If it still fails, choose manual entry in the eSIM setup and copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code from the Turkey eSIM app character for character.
I'm in Türkiye but have no mobile data.
Check three things: the eSIM line is enabled, it's selected as the data SIM, and data roaming is switched on for it. Then toggle Airplane mode to force a new network registration. If needed, open the network operator settings for the eSIM and select a Turkish network manually.
Is turning on data roaming going to cost me money?
Not on the Turkey eSIM line — the toggle just permits the connection, and your prepaid plan is billed at local Turkish rates with zero roaming fees. Keep roaming disabled on your home SIM to avoid charges from your regular carrier.
The QR code says invalid, already used, or the install fails on a second try.
An activation code is single-use, so this error almost always means the first scan already worked and the eSIM is on the phone. Do not keep rescanning. Open the phone's SIM list (the cellular or SIM manager screen) or My eSIMs in the Turkey eSIM app: if the line is listed, the install is done — turn the line on, give it mobile data and enable Data Roaming instead of installing again.
Do I have to scan the QR code at all?
No. In the Turkey eSIM app, open My eSIMs, tap your plan and tap Install — the profile installs on the same phone with no camera involved. The QR route exists for installing from a second screen; both end in the identical profile, and the steps after the install are the same either way.
