How to Install an eSIM on Google Pixel (Turkey eSIM Guide)
Install your Turkey eSIM on a Google Pixel: Network & internet settings, the Download a SIM option, and QR setup — all you need before landing in Türkiye.

Three things to know before you start
It connects only at your destination
Install at home, but expect “No Service” or “Activating…” until you land — that is normal. The plan wakes up when the line first finds a network at your destination.
Your QR code works exactly once
Seeing “invalid QR” after a scan almost always means the eSIM is already on your phone. Don’t rescan — open your SIM list and just switch the line on.
No internet after landing? Check Data Roaming
Turn the travel line on, set it as your mobile data line, and switch Data Roaming ON for it. This one toggle causes most “it doesn’t work” messages.
Installation steps

Buy your plan in the Turkey eSIM app
Open the Turkey eSIM app, pick the data plan that matches your trip length, and complete the purchase. The QR code and activation details show up in the app straight away.

Connect to Wi-Fi
Do the installation over a solid Wi-Fi connection before you leave home. The eSIM download needs internet, and installing in advance means you're online seconds after landing.

Open Settings and go to Network & internet

On your Pixel, open Settings and tap Network & internet.

Tap SIMs, then Add eSIM

Tap SIMs, then the Add SIM or plus button. On recent Android versions the option is labeled Add eSIM directly; on older Pixels, tap Mobile network and continue to the next step.

Choose "Download a SIM instead?"

When Android asks how you want to add a SIM, select Download a SIM instead? and tap Next. This tells the phone you're adding a digital eSIM rather than inserting a physical card.

Scan the QR code from the app
Display your QR code from the Turkey eSIM app on a second screen or a printout and scan it with the Pixel's camera. No second device? Tap Need help, then Enter it manually, and paste the activation code from the app.

Finish the download and name the line
Tap Download and wait a moment while the eSIM installs. Give it a clear name like Türkiye in the SIMs list, and leave the line off until your trip so nothing starts before you land.

On arrival, activate the eSIM and enable roaming

When you land in Türkiye, go to Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, tap the Turkey eSIM, switch it on and enable Mobile data for it, then turn on Roaming for the same line. The roaming toggle only applies to the travel eSIM — your plan runs at local rates, so there are no roaming fees.
A Pixel and an eSIM are a perfect match for a trip to Türkiye: Google has supported eSIM since the Pixel 3, and the setup takes just a few taps. Instead of hunting for a SIM card kiosk at the airport, you buy a prepaid data plan in the Turkey eSIM app, download the eSIM at home, and your phone connects to a Turkish network at local rates the moment you land — with your own number still active alongside it.

Plan on about five minutes for the installation, and do it over Wi-Fi before you fly. Your plan’s validity only begins when the eSIM first connects in Türkiye, so installing early is free — it just means you clear passport control already online.

Troubleshooting
I don't see "Download a SIM instead?" anywhere.
Make sure you're in Settings under Network & internet, then SIMs, and tap the add button — the option appears on the screen that asks about your SIM. If it never shows up, your Pixel may be carrier-locked; dial *#06# to confirm an EID is listed, and contact your carrier to unlock the phone if needed.
The QR code won't scan.
Raise the brightness of the screen showing the code and hold the Pixel 20–30 cm away until the frame catches it. If scanning keeps failing, choose the manual entry option during setup and paste the activation code from the Turkey eSIM app.
The download fails with an error like "Couldn't download your SIM".
This is almost always a network hiccup or a lock issue. Confirm you're on stable Wi-Fi, restart the phone, and try again — the QR code remains valid until the eSIM installs successfully. If the error persists, verify with your carrier that the phone is unlocked.
I'm in Türkiye and the eSIM shows signal but no internet.
Check that Mobile data is enabled for the eSIM and that Roaming is switched on for that line — without roaming, the eSIM can register on a network but won't pass data. Then toggle Airplane mode on and off. As a last resort, open the eSIM's network settings and select a Turkish network manually.
Do I get charged roaming fees when I turn Roaming on?
No. On the Turkey eSIM line the roaming toggle is simply required for the connection to work — the plan is prepaid at local rates, so nothing extra is billed. Keep roaming off on your home SIM, though, or your regular carrier may charge you.
The QR code says invalid, already used, or the install fails on a second try.
An activation code is single-use, so this error almost always means the first scan already worked and the eSIM is on the phone. Do not keep rescanning. Open the phone's SIM list (the cellular or SIM manager screen) or My eSIMs in the Turkey eSIM app: if the line is listed, the install is done — turn the line on, give it mobile data and enable Data Roaming instead of installing again.
Do I have to scan the QR code at all?
No. In the Turkey eSIM app, open My eSIMs, tap your plan and tap Install — the profile installs on the same phone with no camera involved. The QR route exists for installing from a second screen; both end in the identical profile, and the steps after the install are the same either way.
